Emulator RUNTIME ERROR

Hi!
I am starting a course, very basic, for use of APP INVENTOR in a medium school. Because in our school we can't use the smartphone, I would use the emulator for testing the applications. In my tests, however, the emulator never works. It ends with a javalang runtime error.
Please how do I could fix this issue?
My OS is Win10 Home build SO 18363.1016

If you try using the emulator at home, does it work. School networks often contain safeguards that do not permit some activities required of the emulator * School IT/Network Admins: Information specific to school networks (also helpful for conferences and hotel situations) for example your IT department might be blocking ports 8001 and or 8004

My Emulator Companion had started to act wierdly after I allowed it to fall behind the current AI2 version.
This might be a case of that.

To get around it, try creating an empty project (call it empty) to simplify and speed up the process of getting your emulator based Companion up the current version.

Cross check the AI2 web site's version number against the Companion app's stated version on startup.

It seems as if the emulator can't parse the updating package of the AIcompanion app in the emulator. Because as the emulator tryies to start the app, a message is prompt of an updating package needed. Then a parsing error is prompted.
It would be better if the AIstarter would contain that app just updated

Yes, that would be 'better' and require a new AIstarter every time Companion is updated.

How to Update the App Inventor Setup Software

You need to update the emulator for all of your computers. After installing the App Inventor Setup software, you will see a message asking you to update the emulator. Follow the directions on the screen to perform the update and reconnect the emulator. You will need to do this kind of update whenever there is a new version of the App Inventor software.

The Emulator - Silent Install

The emulator must be installed on each machine individually. If you are setting up a lab of several Windows computers, this installation can be streamlined somewhat by using “silent mode, where you create a configuration file and then duplicate that file on every machine,with no further need for console interaction.

Here are the flags to use with the setup package:

/S - (case sensitive) for silent mode (default will be all users) and you will need admin permissions.
/user=all or /user=current (again you will need admin permissions for all users)
/update - update installation.
/skiplicense - skip license

For example, use the following command by typing it at the terminal or by including it in a script:

MIT_App_Inventor_Tools_2.3.0_win_setup [/S] [/user=all or /user=current]

or

sudo MIT_App_Inventor_Tools_2.3.0_win_setup [/S] [/user=all or /user=current]

if you need admin permissions.
