Project build to .apk stalls with no diagnostics

I built a new project that executes perfectly using the companion and it gives an error with no diagnostics:

[PrepareAppIcon] Task errored

Then I attempted to build an existing project that has been built to .apk many times. However it aborted with the same error.
What can I do?

This has been asked a lot lately, so it is always good to search. There is a problem with your icon.

Hi Peter. Thank you very much for your time. I have never specified an icon. ia2 has always provided a bee-and-hexagon icon. How and where does one specify an icon?

You can do that here, under Project Properties and General.

In this case you should use a png.
