Problem with VIDEO permission, with and without VideoPlayer

Android 14... at two tablets. VideoPlayer on screen or without any action on the video. Pure MIT test project VideoPlayer and Download/ : no access to Download (I tested my code in Kodular... access is available). How can I solve this? Because MIT is my target platform. Is this the end of VideoPlayer? ?Regards

It might help if you provide your test aia project ?

TestVideoPlayer.aia (56.4 KB)

please..is it just me?

You may want to have a good read of this, which is specifically for MIT AppInventor (unless I am mistaken Kodular is a bit behind on this one):

In essence you should be testing for the android version before asking for certain file permissions, and also considering the filescopes that you use for accessing files in the android file system

  1. The same app in KODULAR with VideoPlayer simply plays.
    What do you think?
Because the VIDO permissions are there...the file is played>
That's my problem....MIT (immediately screams that it doesn't have permissions) versus KODULAR (plays immediately)
Is this a problem with A14 or MIT 2?

. ) Transferring to MIT disconnected this functionality for me

Move/Copy the video to the ASD, it should play from there.

Sorry to be a bit of a rant. The app only plays videos... 32 MP4 videos... each about 900MB... 32 x 900MB = 28GB. Do you know the limit for ASD? I'm not sure....

Same limit as for the Download directory, all part of a device's storage

How are you getting these videos into your app ? Copying in from computer ? Probably not owned/created by your app.

Yes... I uploaded them from Capcut.... if I download them to the application in some way and save them in shared Download/, will I have access?

In companion app this works for a small video

Thank you very much. I'll do that... it's the only solution for me (to transfer the video.mp4 to the app).

However, it bothers me that Kodular doesn't force me to do so. It's a similar issue with the MIT manifesto. But your solution helped. Thanks.
