App Inventor Not Connecting To AI Companion

My students are unable to test their programs. We continue to recieve an error that the network is disconnected. We also get a warning You cannot use two codes with on start up of the Companion. You should restart the Companion and try again. We have tried to restart, change out the device, change the computer, and put the computers and devices on a different wifi network. It was working at 1:15 today, but no longer works.

Hello Richard.

Did your school IT department make any changes to IT policy earlier today.

The main server is working as it is supposed to at the moment.

Share the following with your IT department:

School IT/Network Admins: Information specific to school networks .

You might also share the aia of the Project your students are currently working on with us. Post the aia here.

Are you using aistarter for connection?

Other techniques are less finicky.

The companion app has always done this.

At what point does it stop working? Depending on the state of the UI in the different systems it can mean different things.

For example, if the QR code continues to appear after scanning, this usually means that either the companion app or the computer is unable to reach https://rendezvous.appinventor.mit.edu.

Once the QR code disappears, the two devices are in the process of enumerating potential endpoints for establishing a connection. This requires that they are able to reach the servers stun.l.google.com and turn.appinventor.mit.edu.

Lastly, if the device screen shuts off for too long, then the Wifi will be shut down to save power and that will cause the network connection to be interrupted.

Those are fairly common error modes. There may be other failures caused do security/firewall apparatus on your network. The more detail you can provide the easier it might be for someone to help pinpoint the issue.

Thank you for everyone's suggestions. We were using the app correctly. Everything resolved itself in about an hour. There must have been something happening either with the MIT App Inventor system or with our Internet connection.

Thanks again,
