I just logged in and my last 5 projects (at least) are missing.
I know for a fact that it's this email address, as earlier versions of the project are still there. V3 is the last one listed, yet I know I was on V8.
Checked my other email addresses just in case and they just open new clean portals - no projects listed at all.
So, where the heck did my projects go (all the same projects for some reason).
I have searched my computer for later AIA versions and cannot find them.
Looks like a significant chunk of time lost there.
Does this ever happen? I just don't trust online storage
Well I was looking to see if I had a downloaded version.
I have the v8 app on my tablet from when I was testing it. So it must be somewhere.
Just don't understand why all the previous versions of the project have vanished (except one)
No - none of those.
As I make changes, I save as blah v1, blah v2 etc. I know I was on v8 - as that is the version on my phone and tablet.
But there is only v3 in my projects list. No idea where the rest went.
About 6 weeks of work gone there. Not doing that again
I signed out of the Inventor. I went to the page where you can pick either the code or edu login. Put my email address in that is shown top right of the page when I am usually working in the program.
That didn't work. Both login options started new versions with no history and didn't open the one associated with that email address.
So I closed both of those (Test site and inventor site) and used my normal login which lets you pick the email address from the list of googlemail accounts....
Selected the same email address and it logged me back into the account that has the missing files.
How can there be two accounts with the same email address.
Terrible system. Pretty sure it's not me (been using this system for ages now).
Anyway.... files have gone so I no longer trust it.
WHAT?...
Just tried logging in using Firefox using exactly the same method as above - where you get a list of your email accounts.
I don't use Firefox, I use Chrome.
They are there.... all of the missing files. How does that work?
I trust this system even less now. Downloading them all as we speak
I would always use this link https://ai2.appinventor.mit.edu/ together with ny Google account for login instead of manually entering email address and password
Try that link in Google Chrome and Firefix to access the main server together with your Google account
Nice to read that you solved, but whether it happens again in the future, try to clear the browser's cache. Sometimes there remain some residuals that lead to a weird browser's behaviour (most often it happened to me when using a VPN). A friend of mine told me to clear the cache and that solved.
As you already know the best practice is to backup the .aia on your hard disk, but if you want to save a quick baseline (on MIT servers) you can use the
