What is the operating environment of ai2.appinventor.mit.edu? Appengine-java-sdk + jdk ?

You also need ant to build App Inventor.
And you should write the question in the post not in the title.

Yes, for ai2 we are using the Google App Engine Standard environment running Java 8.
