The Need for Modernization in MIT App Inventor (Android - MAD)

Hey everyone!
I've been exploring MIT App Inventor recently, and while it's a fantastic tool for beginners and educational purposes, I couldn't help but notice that it's not keeping pace with modern mobile development technologies.

Many aspects feel outdated compared to current industry standards (e.g., Jetpack Compose, Kotlin, etc.). This raises a few important questions:

  • Should MIT App Inventor evolve to support more modern tech stacks?
  • Are there any ongoing projects or forks that aim to modernize or extend it?

Iā€™d love to hear your thoughts!

Perhaps not enough ? sources & PRs

This is exactly what AppInventor is for.

...

Kotlin can be used for building extension code for AppInventor

In your eyes, what would be the benefits in using Jetpack/Compose/Kotlin in the codebase? AppInventor needs to remain fully backwards compatible.
