I am preparing my GSoC 2025 proposal for Updating the Color Choice Property Editor.
Abstract :
This project enhances MIT App Inventor’s color editor by adding a modern color picker. It lets users quickly select colors, access recent and frequent project colors, and enter codes in Hex or RGB. Saved project colors eliminate the need for entering the colors manually, making the process faster and easier.

The color picker was definitely due for an upgrade, and this enhancement is a much-needed improvement. It will make color selection more intuitive and efficient for users.

This seems fairly well thought out and since we are looking to replace the current HSVA color picker provided by the Google Closure Library it is relevant. It might be better to be clear though the features you're adding specifically (e.g., project colors) versus updating/replacing (e.g., the HSVA implementation).

My proposal includes both updating the HSVA implementation and adding project-specific colors.
However, I was told by @Susan_Lane that color choice project has already completed several years ago.
The project I referred to is from 2021 and was not merged due to updates needed to our (new at the time) iOS Companion. It also appears to have mostly worked on the blocks side, so your proposal here may be compatible.

OK. We've looked over the PR from the previous project. App Inventor and Blockly have changed a lot since it was submitted. A lot of it would need to be completely rewritten. We think that best course of action is for you to proceed with your proposal.
