Removing shadow from buttons

i want to remove the shadows from buttons when theyre clicked?

i was using makeviewup and tried to set elevation to 0, but it only worked when the buttons werent pressed, when i pressed them, the shadows popped back up
would be better if it popped down, like when a surface level button is pushed down?
