Pedometer giving inaccurate numbers

Hi All,
I am trying to use Padometer. simpleStep/walkstep in my project to count the number of steps however I did not get accurate counts. Does anybody have insight on this?
In short these are the issues I am facing

  1. How to keep the app awake even when the app is minimized or screen is locked. The counting should continue at that time.
  2. How to get accurate counts of steps using Padometer.

Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
