How can you see the strategy concepts: NoCode and Claude-Code?. In both you can develop Apps whitout write any code line?
For general review:
PWA with Claude Code vs. App Inventor 2:
Advantages
A single app for Android, iPhone, and PC—no workarounds needed for iOS
No Play Store or App Store required; installed via a link (and no costs with Apple)
Instant updates across all mobile devices
Functions written once—no need to duplicate them for every screen
Faster and more lightweight (under 1 MB)
Precise control over GPS, permissions, wait times, and double-clocking (check-ins/check-outs)
Modern and Free design: dark mode, transitions, and custom brand colors
Change history tracked in GitHub, with easy rollback
No dependency on MIT
Claude writes, code, documents, and explains all the code; I make the decisions, test it, and publish it
The transition screens not has delay.
Disadvantages
Code is not edited using blocks; to make changes, I ask Claude to do it
Each release requires thorough testing
Web-based limitations on iPhone: no vibration support and no background execution
I need a server where copy/put my PWA app
Example of an App developed for Claude. I have only provided the instructions and have not written a single line of code.Time developping1 hour: https://math-game-two-gray.vercel.app/
Any feedback would be welcome and helpful.
Other example made by Claude with my instructions (similar 2048, but different). https://triplo-xi.vercel.app/
Guess it depends if you want to:
- Learn something
- Have fun
- Use your brain!
or
make a picture of a small blue animated mermaid with the head of a dog, dressed as a fireman, eating a volcano, in a swamp
or use AI for something useful:
- Fold proteins
- Cure for cancer
- End world poverty
- etc.
Using AI as an additional aid to make us more productive and efficient—much like how we use better tools today than those we had in the Stone Age. Don’t you see that as useful?
I guess a question I have is, how much did it cost (if any) for your Claude code app creation?
No cost. And few time.
The cost of Claude (from Anthropic) varies depending on the type of usage—whether for individuals, teams, or via its API:
For Genai Sapiens Individual Plans – Free: $0
And Vercel (publish) also is free cost.
AI can speed up the work but definitely for long and big projects you need to learn the programming language.
App Inventor is learning tool I still remember my old days when I was learning programming and those long nights of block programming.
I would say what ever I am today it is just because of App Inventor it helps me to learn android and so many things.
Can you explain all the websites, platform you used to create your apps?
I know some schools in Japan are starting to use the free Gemini and google web development platform to teach web app creation. The students are asking questions and “vibe code” with the chat interface then copy paste the code to the platform.
They do it this way since Obviously they can’t afford to provide the high end Gemini/Claude/codex on every student’s machine.
Was your process similar?
MIT AI2 is for learning, and in general, you must know the fundamentals of any domain before deciding to use AI for planning and execution.
Additionally, you find using AI cheaper because these companies are providing free tokens (for now). Once the free phase is over, you might very well prefer writing code by hand or dragging blocks.
Using my PC, I asked Claude to create two example apps for me, explaining what I wanted—either by speaking or by typing it out. Claude programmed them and provided the necessary files (index, JS, etc.) for me to upload to Vercel (I reviewed them, but didn’t change a thing). If I didn’t like something during testing, I would tell Claude, and it would provide an updated file for me to upload to Vercel. It also guided me through the process of deploying them to Vercel (the server). I didn’t use any other platform. Perhaps MIT could create a platform that provides support and ensures the integrity of this entire process.
The files from Claude are ONLY THREE: app.js, estilos.css and index.html
There are many manuals and online courses available for learning the fundamentals of programming. Naturally, this is a prerequisite before asking Claude to program an app for you.
The bussines for these companes are other companys and not individual or personal people.
Even that is heavily subsidized to increase sales. For example, look at the recent market crash in China and somewhat is US.
But a lot of this is if you want to be a professional software engineer. What if that is not what one is pursuing? All one want to do is to create some app for some personal reason, not interesting in scaling it and happy to solve simple problems in their life. And that would be 95 percent of people.
The scary thing is these AI are coming to a point where it can one shot all of that. And I know price “could” be a problem but as you said the state of the art AI now will get cheap or free 3 years later. And people might not bother paying one or two times to create an app they want. In fact, it plausible that everyone will have an AI subscription just like how everyone has an iPhone, Samsung, pixel or whatever.
Now as someone mentioned above that “fun” is the purpose, and that would be great! In fact, one of my vision is that 99 percent of future humans will just live with and for entertainment. How does the financial structure work in that world? I don’t know and that is the trillion dollar question in my opinion.
But we, as in programming educators, might have to find a new narrative about teaching programming other than “you still need to know fundamentals”
Google has the same strategy.
I think that, just as we often use things without knowing the underlying principles of how or why they work—and have no interest in finding out—the same may apply here. I’m not interested in knowing how Claude generated a .js file for me (it’s a machine, after all); what I care about is DESIGNING the app’s functionality, while letting Claude handle the technical, mechanical side of things.
And this app may be is for play or for help anybody, or for test anything, …….
I don’t know how, for example, a mobile phone or a car works (I only know the basic principles), but I use them without any problem. It’s the same with AI.
