Good Morning

So one of our App Inventor server nodes had an “event” at roughly 5:30AM
EDT (0930 UTC) this morning. It initially recovered on its own, but
not before logging several disk errors. Not Good. Amazon Web Services,
where it runs, did not report any problems, which just means it was a
very local problem, probably isolated to the hardware that the node
ran on.

MIT App Inventor was operational after the “event.”

I checked on things at around 9:00AM (1300 UTC) and decided to take
the suspect node off-line, reboot it, and check the integrity of its
disks. This verifies that the disks filesystem structure is OK (which
is important because otherwise errors can propagate!). However it
doesn’t find data errors (at least not on the “ext4” filesystem we are
using).

After rebooting the node, I added it back to the cluster and then did
a re-balance of the cluster load so it would pick up some work. At
this point the appinventor “pods” restarted, and failed to come up
(they failed their internal “health” check). Start head scratching...

After reviewing a whole bunch of logs files, I figured out that the
software “image” of MIT App Inventor was corrupted. So I had to remove
it from all the nodes and replace it with a good copy (I always
keep copies :-)).

After replacing the image, I was able to restart the service and all
appears to be OK now.

Yes, I did. Didn’t worked.

Now it is back. Getting some issues with my .aia version. It was working last night. Need to find out what is going on.

Thanks!

Check your Companion. There has been a recent bugfix requiring the next version.

Oh, thank you.
