My school is committed to App Inventor as a teaching tool, and we are hoping to finally upgrade our tablet cart to use the newest features for the foreseeable future. Right now we are using the Galaxy Tab A from 2017 running Android v9.
I have read the list of devices that are known to be compatible with the Look Extension and other AI features, but I imagine that not every tablet from the last 5 years has been added to the list. I searched these forums too and it seems that the last comments about this list were made 4-5 years ago. I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a tablet on the lower price range that you know to be compatible with these features. I also asked around my teaching network, so I’ll share any of their intel here
Since the modified LookExtension works on a Nexus 5 and a Galaxy 4 and even on a Moto G Play, it should also work on the Galaxy Tab A 2017 with Android 9, which has better hardware.

I’ve gone and completed the App Inventor tutorial for the Image Classifier app, replacing their extension with your modified version. It seems to work well with little lag time on my device. The only change I had to make was selecting the WebViewer for the Look extension on the Designer, which would have been done automatically in their tutorial. I’m just saying this for whomever may need to know!
We are still going to need to update the tablets eventually, so if you are sure this modified extension will work with most devices, we have more options.
