The Chinese paddlers, spearheaded by world number ones Fan Zhendong and Sun Yingsha, did not disappoint in the third round of the tournament. The same could not be said for defending men’s singles silver medallist Truls Möregårdh of Sweden, who suffered a shock 4-2 (11-6, 3-11, 4-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-9) defeat to Egypt’s Omar Assar.
