I’m making a counter app. I want to use the volume buttons to add or subtract the counter number. What I need is an extension that can detect when the volume keys are pressed, and stop the system volume slider from popping up. I’ve looked around the community a bunch but couldn’t find an extension that does exactly this. I’m still a total beginner. If anyone has this extension or knows where to get it, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
Dear @home123,
have you already had a look to this post ?
Alternatively you can also search in @Taifun' s web site ("puravidapps") where you can find a huge collection of extensions and code chunks.
Best wishes.
Thank you so much for your help! I’ve checked that thread you mentioned, but that extension doesn’t quite do what I need. What I want is an extension that captures volume button presses without changing the system volume at all, just detecting the key events. I’ve seen other apps do this before, so I believe there should be an extension capable of this. Thanks again for your assistance!
In @Taifun's web site (App Inventor Extensions | Pura Vida Apps)
use the Ctrl+F keys to allow a "volume" research (there are 16 references). Most probably you can find therein an extension that is capable to SET the volume value, therefore, by combining the two extensions you could not only get the volume button(s) events, but also to set it backward its previous value. For example: when the + volume button is hit, you can use the @vknow360 extension to get the event, and use the other extension to push it back to its previous value. Or, maybe with a more accurate search within those 16 references, you can find a unique extension that makes both your requirements. Give it a chance... ![]()
