Install Unverified .APK Files Going Away in September

I understand that, as of this September, we will no longer be able to install .apk files onto Android devices; at least not without a Google developer license. I routinely sideload my own apps developed on AI2 onto my Android phone and/or tablet.

Can the community confirm this? What solutions exist if I want to keep developing apps for my own use on AI2?
