Ideas on why I can't download apk files to my phone?

My downloads just stall.
Here's one from a completed build, where I scanned the bar code off my PC screen:

My phone is a Moto G Power, Android 11.

Its default browser is Brave.

I checked my Google Play Store settings, to stop it from scanning incoming apps.

I can't find the Settings section that controls apk downloading sources.

To rule out MIT's side, here's an attempt from Sync.com:

It won't finish that last 10%.

What about downloading other files ? (of similar size)

Here is a link to one (video 3.89mb)

Are you scanning into the companion app ?

and an apk (help guide for old MGs)

Is this file not in the Download directory?

Recently I noticed that my Chrome didn't want to install downloaded apk, but it was temporary. Total Commander also has this option disabled, as it claims, Google ordered.

It gets boring in the long run...

The movie and cyberama .apk arrived okay and immediately, and my phone installed and ran the app with no problems.

My Downloads directory had the TimAI2 files and my Companion downloads from 4 hours ago.

However, my stay_awake.apk build never reached my Downloads directory, either from Google lens scanning the build result code or attempting to share the .apk through my Sync.com account.

My phone somehow finds my built .apk repugnant to the point of not completing a download, delaying completion of any download attempts.

Maybe I'll upload it here, to this thread, to see if it acceptable on this site through my web browser.
(Sorry, this thread won't accept .apk files.)

To solve the problem, I had to go to ai2.appinventor.mit.edu directly from my phone, and build my project from my phone, asking for a direct .apk download.

The .apk landed in my /Downloads directory immediately, where my browser notified me and gave me an opportunity to run it (with a little scolding about having disabled Play Protect.)

Using the Lens app for a bar code based apk download proved too indirect, I guess.

Thanks to all for your help and sample download targets.
