I need to add audio, yet every audio I try to upload is too big

You can compress the audio, there are many pages on the Internet where you can do it online.

I have compressed a 7.8 mb audio and it ended up at 2.4 mb.

Compressing audio files generally leads to a significant loss of quality. Compression of more than 2/3 leads to a dramatic loss of quality. So it was never an option for me.

1. You can also upload audio files > 5MB to the assets (using 7-Zip/WinRAR).
2. You can add big files to the assets later (outside of AI2). See: How to build a big app → APK max. 100 MB or → AAB 150 MB
