How does http://code.appinventor.mit.edu/ run on AWS?

I heard that App Inventor Can only run on GCP's App Engine but just now I read that the code.appinventor.mit.edu instance runs on AWS, how?

We built a custom backend that runs on standard Linux virtual machines and that is deployed on AWS. That backend is not part of our open source offering.
