I'm looking for some help with API's and getting that into a list.
Ideally what I am trying to do is make a trivia app, taking the questions etc..

I'm having a hard time understanding how to get the values using the API and use them throughout my app.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you are asking for help, I recommend you to make it as easy for others to be able to help you ...
You probably will get more feedback then...
which means in your case post a screenshot of your relevant blocks...
To download the aia file, upload it to App Inventor, open it, do some bug hunting for you, etc... this takes time, and most people will not do that...

A similar question How do you connect open trivia api with mit app inventor - #6 by Dhruvil_patel discusses using an api about trivia. Is that the same api you are using? I do not know. The link provides some example code and advice about how to use the trivia api. The link may help you and already answer your questions,
In the meanwhile, why not follow Taifun's advice? Post an image of your Blocks and explain
What you do depends on how you want the app to work.
