Hello Sharn

App Inventor nb189 was recently released and unfortunately some of the extensions do not work with it. We believe it's an App Inventor bug and MIT are looking into it.

A work-around to display a gif is to set it into an HTML page (no internet required), add that document to your Media (Assets) and use a Web View component to display it.

Is it working in the compiled apk ?

Are you connecting via Wifi or via USB when using the companion?

both of USB and built-in emulator runtime error happened even if compiled apk installed also showing the error message.

after compiled apk installed then launched normally also showing the error message.

What version of Android do you use?
On the page: http://kio4.com/appinventor/293A_extension_gif_animado_click.htm
there are three extensions
com.KIO4_AniGif.aix (App Inventor)
com.KIO4_AniGifK.aix (Kodular)
com.KIO4_AniGif10.aix (App Inventor. Android > 10)
Which one have you tried?

What is the error message in the compiled app? The one you show in your original post can only be in the companion since it is thrown by the interpreter. If a class isn't found during the compilation step, the build would be aborted as the compiler needs everything available in order to create the final executable package.

com.KIO4_AniGif.aix version.
everything ok before the App Inventor upgrade.
I am using the external emulator, version is Android > 7.0; not a built-in emulator.

when app running there is always showing the error message box and noted "divided by zero" then app been launch again automatically.

@Sharn

I have updated the KIO4_AniGif.aix extension:

Hello Juan,

Thanks for your quick response.
my test result as below:
after I load your version 2 .aia project then running on the emulator which was Android 8.1.0 but there still shows the runtime error on the AI2 Inventor's environment.
of the contrary that a compiled apk running fine on the Emulator and physical phone,

always execute fail from [connect --> Emulator] not only built-in emulator but also external emulator was.
It seems there are some AI2 Companion problems??

Hello @Sharm,

this app works for me in MIT Companion 2.63u [it also works for me in MIT Companion 2.63].

Can you reinstall MIT Companion version:2.63u and try it again?

Have you tried the p193A_gif_animado_v2.aia (866.9 KB) example?

The emulator is very slow, you may have to load it several times for it to load the image files.

Upload your application to this topic.
