Doing an action at a specified date or every week

Hi all.

I am pretty new in this forum and a beginner in MIT APP inventor 2.
What i need to do is to send a message text every week for example (assume at the same day in week).
Can it be done?
What about when the application is not running at this time? can it be done in the background ?

As i searched a lot over the web, i found usage of the Clock component but all examples are about the current date/time.

AI2 can't run in the background.

App Inventor apps itself are not really able to run in the background
however there now is an extension, which is able to do this, see here BackgroundTasks Extension by Atom_Developer (25 USD)
