Countdown to the second

I am a total noob. I have been around just long enough to conclude that it seems that nobody is interested in doing what I want to do, but I can't believe I have a unique problem that cannot be solved.

I want a visual countdown accurate to within a second to a predetermined event.

Operation:

  1. Enter the date and time of the event e.g. march 12, 07h34m46sec
  2. Press button without knowing or caring what the current time is
  3. See countdown display DD:HH:MM:SS.

That's all. No wedding bells ringing, or any other frills. It would be good to have event data in memory, thereby enabling a painless fresh start whenever the app is consulted.

Essentially, I am looking for countdown = event time - current time (button push)
There are a bazillion countdowns out there, but I have yet to find one the works this way and, if that's the way you want it, nothing else will do.

I have concluded that datepicker and timepicker are just confectionery and not really the way to go. Further, if timepicker could be sensibly modified to do the job, somebody would surely have done that by now.

I understand that the Clock translates time elapsed since 1970. I therefore assume that subtracting current time from an event time is not an unreasonable project. I am just looking for some pointers on how I might pursue this.

Thank you

You can store the target datetime ms in TinyDB to persist it across runs of the app.

Thank you! That looks like the sort of link I need. Now I have to see what I can do with it!
