When placing the button in the Designer, select 'rectangular' and set the sides to equal size and the colour the same as your screen background colour. Then you can place 32bit images (transparent background) or 24bit images (background same as screen) on the buttons.

If you do not want to use images on the buttons and you want to make them round when placing the button in the Designer, select 'oval', set the sides to equal size and choose a differenr color from your screen background colour.
