CloudDB not writable

Hello! For the past few days, I haven't been able to write to the CloudDB. Has something significant changed, or is it no longer possible to use the CloudDB for free? I’d really appreciate some information, as I’m at a loss. Reading still works, by the way, but neither deleting tags nor writing data is working. Thanks, Micha.

The basics (store and get) working OK here.

Provide more details on what is not working for you ?

Also which url are you using to login to Appinventor ?

Developing for android or ios ?

So, I’ve just run another test. Both apps (sender & receiver) work fine on my newer phone. However, the sender app is normally on an older phone (Lenovo C20). For about a week now, nothing has been uploading to the cloud from there. I noticed that all permissions had been removed (for some reason??), though I have since restored them (all permissions). Even after restarting both phones (sender & receiver), the test was unsuccessful.

I develop exclusively for Android (one device is running version 5.—the older sender phone—and the other is a Moto E13 running version 13).

Did you update your app on the old phone, or is this with an existing app?

Try creating an example/test project from scratch, to test cloudDB on the old phone (companion/compiled)

Documentation says:
"The minimum supported version is 1.6 (donut, API level 4)" so don't think it is that.

What version of Android is this phone running? And is this running in the companion app or as a compiled APK?

Edit: Have you recompiled with the latest release? We have switched CloudDB to using Let's Encrypt for its SSL certificate, and older Android devices may not support this out of the box. The latest App Inventor version should include the necessary root certificates if you recompile and reinstall the app. (see Jeff's note below).

We understand what is going on. We replaced the SSL/TLS certificate used by CloudDB (the old one expired). The new one is issued by Letsencrypt, whose root is not in older phones.

We will be updating App Inventor to include the Letsencrypt root certificate so CloudDB will work on older phones. We will update the buildservers first so packaged apps (after we do the update) will have the new root. I can build a special Companion for you that will also have it, otherwise you will have to wait until the next App Inventor release when we will include it in the released Companion.

We may have a simpler workaround; testing it now. If it works, you won't have to do anything!

The workaround is in place. See if it works now.

Hi everyone! It’s working again, and I didn’t do a thing! Thanks for letting me keep using my old phones; newer ones aren't as useful for telemetry. I hope it keeps working without issues now. Cheers to the brains behind it
