Teaching AI2 to our students at Universidad Nacional del Sur (http://www.uns.edu.ar), we can’t retrieve the phone calls list; neither does the list of archived sms. Is this possible?

In core App Inventor this is not possible, but I understand that there are extensions that support the behavior on Android. Note that Google is cracking down on apps that do this type of behavior and that what you're asking for is impossible on iOS (if you're thinking about cross platform in the future).
