Is there a way I can read the ebook "Become an App Inventor" for free? I want to try it out.
You can check if your local library has a copy, else ask them to get it. In the US quite a few school libraries are getting it.

With a little bit of digging I found a page on our publishers site that give a chapter of so of the book for free: https://candlewick.com/book_files/1536219142.chp.1.pdf
This might give you an idea about the style etc, but the more challenging projects are later in the book.

I'm happy to send the Candlewick link for a sample chapter to teachers in Orange County. I think they'd be very interested in reading it. Especially, the STEM teachers. Thank you for sharing it.
