An example of fading colour text

I once saw an example excerpt of code demonstrating a label with fading away text colour. It was posted in response to my shrinking text message (not the communication texting, just a informational message in an app that faded away)
Is anyone familiar with this?
I will muddle with it in the meantime

He came, He muddled, He figured it out... rather simply..

However, this is black and white, what if one was to require colour? Like lime green text on a dark green background?

got that too... Sunday morning inspiration ... but still heavily depends on hard-coded figures for text colour
