A camera with sensors to count push ups

i am trying to make a fitness app that can count the push ups using the camera but the issue is im stuck at the making camera part. please help

I do not believe you could count the push ups using the camera. How do you expect that to work?

What is probably possible is to use the accelerometer or pedometer control to count the push ups. Why Pedometer? Moving up and down is just a step after all. Place your Android in a pocket of your pants and count simple steps might work.
