Runtime Error in different unchanged projects

Hi Anke,

thank you for your reply. I save Projekt 2 under a new project and also change the name in properties. Installed it. No errors or warnings while compiling and also not in block view. the app works and sends date via bluetooth to ESP32 after granting the permissions.

The error in AI2 Web UI regarding label1 still occurs. No kind of emulation works.

I installed the one from your link. After that there was a message that the version is outdated or not vaild). I was prompted to scan a new QR Code to install a newer version. Nothing is shown on the screen. Via USB all ist starting but there are no elements (buttons ...). the screen is empty.

AI 2 Version of the companion on my tablet is 2.73au after the update procedure. The version from your link was something else but it did not work as described (invalid / old version)

I am lost. Due to the fact that I have no idea for these phenomena, I don't know what to do. I'm afraid that the damage will get worse no matter what I do now.

The only thing is an update on tabled what i did some days ago but these should not be the reason for the strange mesages in AI2 regarding missing labels or wrong VertifcalAssignments. Espessially because the projects compile and seem to work (at least the one which i testet - project 2)

Select "Not now" when advised of an outdated version.

Given your apps compile and work as expected, this is possibly only a companion issue. The bugfix companion 2.73t6 helps to resolve some issues.

Unfortunately it does not work. I installed the version from the link which is 2.73t6u. Now the popup regarding out dated version did not pop up (???). One time I could emulate the copy of project 2. Then I tried another project (copy) which does not work. Then I tried again project 2 which worked some minutes ago but now it dont work anymore. It is not stable and I have no idea for the reason. All in all worst case and not the best prerequisits for what i planned for holiday :frowning:

Some days ago there were problems with the server. Could not compile any project. It works only after some tries. I ignored it and tried again a few day later where it works better.

Im not sure but there must sometings be happend which has corrupted my projects and damaged something regarding emulation.

As already mentioned, this is a problem with Companion. Install the trial version of Companion, a window will pop up when starting, click NotNow. And it should work.

This is exactly what i did. The version displayed is 2.73t6u. This is what I have downloaded via the link provided by @TIMAI2

Yes but this popup does not come up any more. The first time I installed the version provided by @TIMAI2 this popup comes up and i unfortunatly updated to the official version. After the hint from you i installed the "special" version again. But the popup did not come up again.

So... because i can believe this all I deinstalled all and installed the version from @TIMAI2 again. The popups come up and I chose "NOTNOW". It works now when I connect via AI Companion and QR Code. Thank you for that.

The bad is, that I am now at the point were I was at the very first beginning of using AI2. As a still beginner I have to test a lot and always scan the QR Code is not very pleasant / efficient.

Any idea what i can do that it works via USB as it was until a few weeks ago? Maybe I stell have to wait for a bug fix (if it is one - I do not know)?

I also have no problems with the USB connection.

Device name (model) and Android version?

Lenovo Tab M9
Modell TB310FU
Android Version 13

What happens when you connect via USB? Post screenshots and/or a video.

I do not know how to make a video. But there is nothing special what happens. All went as it was in the past. Establish a connection... popup "wait some seconds to ensure all is running..." then an empty screen comes. With AI Companion this screen can be seen for a short moment and then is filled with the screenelements. The last step is not done when connecting via USB...

Beside this fact there are sometimes this obscure errors mentioned above. For some times a new error occurred...

But these errors are not reproduceable. And the app is working... Never had such issues in the past.

Post the aia.

I send you a peronal message with aia file. Dont want to publish the whole project here.

Yes, I get the same error with USB connection as you posted in your first post:

Companion (WiFi connection) works fine.

@Anke May I ask you in which way you use the AI? I use on PC only the AI starter and AI via Web. Small installation. I still have the problem described above. Now I think about to install the total package which can be found here somewhere in downloads with approx. 1.5GB. But I am not sure if this brings me benefits and if this may solve the problems.

I also think about to install Android Studio. It seam to be possible (tutorials in web) how to recode the AI blocks there. But what would be with the different free aix extensions i use e.g. vertical slider or some extensions from @TIMAI2 / @Taifun (helper tools like keep the app / screen on, suppress warnings and so on). I think that in case of using Android Studio I can not use them.

Is there any recommendation or would you think that the large installation of AI2 locally on PC would be helpful?

What do you thing about this... I found it here in one of the posts...

I personally avoid AIStarter.

I use Blue Stacks for a free emulator and run the companion on it, using the Connect -> Companion sequence.

Feel free to install any emulator you like.

Search this board for FAQ companion for emulator experience

Thank you for your answer. I will look into it with Bluestack. I actually like to test the small to medium-sized projects directly on the device (tablet) via USB (without scanning qr codes and so on).

I experimented for a long time until it worked (the ai starter and the usb connection). I created 3 apps that I could test and use in this way. I didn't change my settings. No new PC or anything like that.

When I wanted to expand an app some days ago, I suddenly had the problems mentioned above. I was very happy that I found the ai2 and totally thrilled. It does what I need without a lot of overhead. It's just a shame that I now have these problems.

I spent last weekend installing Android Studio and now experimenting there. I actually wanted to avoid Java / Kotlin because I don't need it for my needs. ai2 was / would be the perfect tool for me.

But as it is now, I can't use it anymore. Every time I open it, I have a new inexplicable problem or phenomenon. Mind you, with apps that I haven't touched for months and that work perfectly on my tablet and which are used regularly :frowning:

That's from the Jan 20 Blockly update to the Blocks Editor. I would give it a week or so to settle down.

Thank you very much. This is possibly the best answer and explanation for the strange effects. And the best thing is that the information gives hope that everything will be OK again. I would be very happy, the AI2 has given me a lot of pleasure so far because I have been able to create quite complex applications of my own in a simple way (in connection with my Arduino projects)
