When I opened the project, it showed me a very early version of it, but I have made many changes since then. I have the APK of the newest version, but I don't know if I can use that somehow here.
Try sorting your Project List by the Modified Date column.
You might have multiple versions of the Project.
I dont have multiple versions
Did you ever save a copy of your Project as an aia to your desktop? If you did (perhaps using a different name, use that aia to recover as much of your Project as possible.
Projects are normally saved every five seconds or so, if that did not happen sometime while you were 'logged in after a long time' it means your app had an issue at some point. You probably ignored the message when you were tired and kept on 'coding'.
Developers of important projects should make a practice of saving copies of their projects periodically, every 15 or 30 minutes or so with a different name. If you make a mistake that you can not correct with an Undo, you can recover most of your coding to date.
You have the apk you made with the latest version but not an aia you saved? You can use the compiled Project to remind you of what you need to add to the Project you have (the earlier version). There is no simple way to decompile the apk.
Is it possible you have a copy of a more recent version in the Trash? You might restore it and the version in the Trash might be a more recent version. The good news is you coded it once and you will do it again.
When all else fails, rebuild the project from memory
you should save the old project before logging out. no need to save in file explorer
why you should do backups is explained here
