To find out what's going on, we go step by step
The first step is to find out, if the extension is working. For this there exists an example project. You use that example project to test. Now let me ask again

Yes but it is triggered if I type an accurate and complete URL and hit enter but nothing happens when it is not a complete url
To answer the question NOTHING and NOTHING
working fine here on companion app as well after building on Samsung Galaxy A54 running Android 15
on a label below the textboxes the entered text will be displayed
how are you testing? which device and Android version are you using? Are you using an emulator? Can you elaborate?
try the apk file from here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pexeuVBSaHYAmaoCzxsjFVGwh9Cfm15z/view?usp=sharing

How would I use the APK, I am testing on mit app inventor version nb202b I am using an the mit companion app and am using the code in the screen shot
Usually you install an apk file on yout test device to test it. .
Please download the test project to avoid new errors... the example project is tested and is working... please confirm and after that we can go to step 2
You forgot to tell us
Taifun
I am using a school chromebook and that is part of the reason why I don't think I can download that file
Ok, my guess is you are talking about the apk file here.
Please download the example project (aia file) from the download section here App Inventor Extensions: Textbox | Pura Vida Apps, import it into App Inventor and test it using the companion app
Taifun
oh ok thank you, can you give me the download lnk like you did with the apk file b/c to use that link is a whole hassle?
I got the file I will let you know about the results
Here is the results
@nathaniek2011 can you use a real device with companion app? It will work there.
This issue is not confined to chromebooks and the companion app installed on it, but also can affect other emulators (e.g. genymotion) that disable the on screen keyboard.
@nathaniek2011 @TIMAI2 thank you for your tests. I will add a note in the documentation, that the text changed listener as well as the enter pressed listener does not work in emulators and Chromebook using companion app because of the absense of a on screen keyboard
Taifun
So how would I fix this
TextChanged listener seems to work OK ?
Usually the goal of writing an app is to create an apk or aab file to then install it on an Android device to finally use the app
In your case you seem to be only using a Chromebook in a school environment. Sorry, my extension can't help in your case. Use a button instead
Ok, thank you
Taifun
As suggested, use a real device with companion app
Ok thanks for trying
