Thanks for the suggestion! Here is what I came up with - perhaps too many output options (log, screen, label ... at least I stopped short of a "toFile" option ) It seems to do the trick. Comments? Suggestions? Corrections? The only thing I don't like about it is that I would like to check "theLabel" argument to be sure it is a label.
