How Do I Get Beta Testers and Publish My MIT App Inventor App to the Play Store?

Hello MIT App Inventor Team and Community,

I'm a student developer working on an app called YouthIntel AP, created entirely using MIT App Inventor. The goal of the app is to allow youth in Andhra Pradesh, India to anonymously report:

  • :no_entry_sign: Belt Shops (illegal liquor sales)
  • :iphone: Betting app promotions
  • :test_tube: Drugs / Ganja spots
  • :skull_and_crossbones: Terrorism or suspicious activities

The app requires no login or signup, and does not track user identity — it's designed to be completely anonymous, with optional image/video upload and GPS tagging.

:white_check_mark: I've completed the app and tested the APK with a few users.
:white_check_mark: Reports are stored in a linked Google Sheet via Google Apps Script.
:white_check_mark: Everything is working well technically.
:calling: Current public test APK link:

I now need guidance on two things:

  1. How do I find more beta testers — ideally students or youth in India who can give real feedback?
  2. What are the next steps to convert this MIT App Inventor APK into a format accepted by the Play Store and complete the publishing process?

I'm happy to hear any suggestions, resources, or personal experiences. Many thanks in advance to this community.

@SteveJG, I understand that I have to download the .apk file and make a keystore. But, since I am still beginning the testing phase, I cannot fully publish the app to google play.

Can I get instructions to get beta testers or at least 12 people that are willing to test the app for 14 consecutive days and provide feedback to message me at the provided email that they would like to sign up please?

The description you have provided seems to indicate the Project is in alpha, not beta production. Make sure you app really works with your casual testers. You need critical testers, in my opinion , when you FINISH your Project and are ready to send it to Google. Then you will need the 20 required testers.

1, Ask for help from where people are building apps in India. They will understand your testing problem Contact the teachers who lecture in universities, high schools etc. perhaps those near you and ask for testing help graciously

2.FINISH your app. Test it on as many real android devices as possible. Then Register as a Google Developer and get a Google Play developer account. Find someone local who has done this and make sure you understand the process. Eventually upload to the Google Play Console and cycle through Google's required process. Then search this forum using the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner for discussions about Google Play to see the types of issues they and you face. This is a complex process.

Good luck. Eventually you will succeed.

I have tried reaching out to people in India for help testing the app but I was unable to reach anybody. So, I am trying to get people who have used MIT App Inventor and went through the publishing process so that I can get accurate guidance. Can I please get people on the Community discussions page to give me contacts or opt in to be testers for my app?

If you are not an authority (government owned or assigned by govt) to receive such complaint never publish the app on play store else the app will 100% get suspended in no time.
