I keep forgetting this error, incorrectly. It gave me this error when I first woke up, and tried to use my app today. I started this project after I got my own API key from Google. I immediately entered my personal API key, and I chose the model: Gemini 2.0-flash. it worked fine for a while. Now, I keep getting denied, and it's showing me this error:

Error 4200: Error from the ChatBot code 429 You have exceeded your free usage today, more information at Creating a Chatbot OpenAI Account and an API Key (I visited that site, but I have already gotten my own API key)

Should I try to use a different model?

Sorry, this is a bit confusing. By default, if you set the ChatBot to "chatgpt" and do not specify a model (aka "default"), we route the request to the Amazon/Anthropic Sonnet-4.5 model. We pay the bill and enforce a quota. If you set up your own OpenAI API key, obtained directly from platform.openai.com, then we route you to OpenAI with gpt-4.0-mini as the model (the current default). working on a fix so that in the future the default will be "default" and if you specify a provider explicitly, we will always use that provider.

My advice for now is to just use the default (aka Sonnet-4.5 pretending to be ChatGPT) unless you run into quota issues.

Btw., the reason for the default switch is that Amazon granted MIT a significant amount of free "credits" so for now, it doesn't cost us cash!

 There might be something else going on with this.  It has been days, but I am still getting the error. 

  I definitely got my own API key for Google Gemini. 

I'm hoping that you can please try to tell me what I should choose for the Model.

If you want to use ChatBot then use Sonnet-4.5 pretending to be ChatGPT If you follow Jeffs Advice, that is what should work with it. Even though you have your own API key for Gemini I expect Gemini might not work with with ChatBot. I use the ChatBot with Sonnet-4.5 and it works fine. I use the default and ChatBot works great:
MIT provides a generous amount of tokens so I can do most of what I want.

For anything other than ChatBot 's default, I would use the advice here in Gordon's tutorial. If you go that way you will need your own api key.
