Companion legacy connection

What is the difference using or not companion connection in legacy mode? In non legacy mode several times happen errors that companion is not able to download a file (normally a picture or a sound file) and without any modification checking legacy mode it works. Seems to me that legacy mode takes shorter time to download the application. It works in the same way in both AI2 and AI2Offline. Can we say that legacy mode solves always this problem?

Thanks, interesting. I will check with all the browsers installed on my PC devoted to testing. Stop the antivirus may be an option for AIO2offline but not for AI2. My default browser is Mozilla Firefox with several extensions, some coming from Avast (antivirus, password manager and so on).
